Experience Rural South Africa

A trip that will untame your wild heart

There are few places in the world that can compare to the vastness and majesty of rural South Africa. It’s where leopards roam free and hidden gems lurk along hilltops, canyons, and rural villages.

Sia Mondo Escapes takes you on a once in a lifetime journey through the bush, amid laughing hyenas and roaring lions, while sleeping under canvas and drinking sundowners at sunset. Traverse the forested Blyde River Canyon (the 3rd largest canyon in the world which like the Grand Canyon is with lush vegetation and wildlife) and experience what it’s like to live in a local village.

You’ll experience the lesser known (and totally mind-blowing) aspects of South Africa as we participate in community service projects, working hand in hand with local women, sharing laughter, lessons, and food.

Together we’ll witness how culture rebirths itself from a complex history, seeing and feeling the hope that remains in post-apartheid South Africa. Picture: eating traditional meals around the fire, listening to tribal stories, and filling our hearts and minds with local knowledge as we visit community conservation efforts and grassroots sustainability projects.

Welcome to a transformative adventure where you’ll be connected to nature, the core of humanity, and the unfathomable animal kingdom.

SOUTH AFRICA ITINERARY

DAY ONE
Settle into the great South Africa

Welcome to South Africa’s most abundant wildlife and game reserves. Take the day to settle in, connect with the kindred spirits in our group, and absorb the exotic surroundings.
DAY TWO & THREE
Eco village and giving back to a local rural community

Participate in a grassroots project that empowers women and children from the rural community. We’ll stay at a beautiful eco village that makes incredible inroads in sustainable farming, in early childhood development, in income generating projects such as baking and sewing reusable sanitary pads.
DAY THREE, FOUR & FIVE
Wildlife sightings, conservation and camping

Listen to the night sounds of lions roaring and hyenas laughing while dining around the campfire or sleeping under canvas. You will explore the bush with the rising and setting sun on game drives. Pause during the sunrise and sunset for coffee and sundowners, soaking in the serenity of this remarkable landscape.
DAY SIX
Game drive

Jump on a 4x4 game drive on a private reserve for close and intimate encounters with lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhino’s in their natural habitat. Stopping for the compulsory sundowner as we stand in awe admiring this vast breathtaking wilderness.
DAY SEVEN
Forested Canyons

Explore the 3rd largest canyon in the world, which unlike the better-known Grand Canyon, is lush with vegetation and wildlife. You’ll peak into “god’s window” for a truly spectacular nature experience.
DAY EIGHT
Endangered species and wildlife rehabilitation

We’ll visit a home for abandoned and abused wildlife for a rare opportunity to interact with rescued species that are not able to re-enter the wild. We’ll also get up close and personal with endangered species, cheetah breeding, rehabilitation and protection.
DAY NINE
Pampered with African spa medicine

Let your body enjoy Kapama’s magical marula moments. Experience a body wrap of Neroli and Marula. The Rasul treatment revitalises the body with the Marula Bark, a traditional African medicine. Experience total relaxation and euphoria with an African calabash massage that leaves the body on a high note after days of trekking the wild.
DAY TEN
Departure day

Breakfast together at a local restaurant. We’ll reflect on our journey together, the lessons and memories before we head to the airport.

HIGHLIGHTS

MEET YOUR GUIDE

SIMONA ALLAN

Consider yourself invited to our once-in-a-lifetime trip to South Africa tip next year – camping under canopy in the Safari, waking to roaring lions and coffee by sunset as we hike, meet indigenous tribes and volunteer with an animal rehabilitation centre.

“I was born into the hospitality industry. My grandparents owned a restaurant just outside of Rome. My grandfather was the chef. After college, armed with the family recipes, I moved to England. I was a successful restaurateur in London when a pipe burst, flooding the restaurant completely. The insurance company estimated it would take months to repair the damage, so I took the opportunity to fulfil a childhood dream and travel to South Africa.

By the end of the trip, Africa had worked her magic. I knew my life would never be the same. I decided to move to South Africa and combine my passion for food with my newfound love of the African Bushveld. I’m now a certified nature guide. I host guests from around the world to give people an unforgettable African experience”
