Indigenous Crafts of Mexico
A trip that will find itself deep inside your heart
Touching down in Oaxaca is like having a smile that warms you from deep inside your heart. It has a certain vibrancy that surpasses the kaleidoscope coloured buildings that seems to illuminate your soul. You feel like you’re inhaling a unique kind of magic.
Everywhere you walk, the buildings are stunning. Beautiful architecture, vibrant colours and magical finds are just waiting to be adored.
Known as the city where indigenous culture flourishes, we’ll experience the lesser known (and totally stunning) corners of Oaxaca as we delve deep into its traditions through artisan arts and crafts. We’ll participate in weaving workshops, make chocolate, mole, mezcal and so much more.
Working with local women and artisans we’ve put together a transformative trip which takes you to into the soul of Oaxaca and its Indigenous people.

MEXICAN ITINERARY
Relax, or explore , the day is yours until we meet together in a popular restaurant to welcome the beginning of a beautiful adventure.
We begin our journey in the colorful city of Oaxaca to explore this architectural treasure and discover the rich cultural gems it has to offer. Refuelling in beautiful surroundings before we visit a contemporary textile project founded by Ainsley to learn and experience natural dying techniques.
We explore the valley through the indigenous women who have a deep connection with the land. First meeting an artisan and activist who will share her journey back to the earth through clay and pottery. For lunch, Dalia, a farmer, weaver, and traditional cook will welcome us at her house to learn about the ancestral knowledge and flavours and invite us to taste her recipe for mole.
An unforgettable day exploring the roots and history of a community which is both rich in culture and ancient traditions. Teotitlán del Valle, the Zapotec community famous for its unique textile traditions, especially their exquisite colorful woollen rugs. Our local hosts will welcome us with open arms to share their knowledge, and their chocolate making.
We'll enter into the world of this magnificent distillery, one of the most well-known Palenque in Oaxaca, and the only one managed by a woman. We find out the stories behind mezcal and learn the incredible diversity of agave, the plant of which the unique spirit of mezcal originates. After lunch and tastings, we visit a collective of embroiderers that have revived and maintained the tradition of several generations of women who express the landscape of flowers in Oaxaca through their work.
Today is very special as we discover the Sierra Mixe and immerse ourselves in the sea of mountains that preserves the Ayuuk culture. We will get to know one of the most rich cultures in Mexico through its crafts and ceremonial gastronomy. On our way to the Mixe we will stop at Hierve el agua, a system of petrified waterfalls ans a sacred place for the Zapotec communities. * Hierve el Agua is indigenous owned and can be closed at short notice*
Such a special day as we delve into the Ayukk culture through its arts and crafts. We'll meet a clay artisan in her atelier and a traditional embroiderer who'll show us the symbolism that represents the Mixe people that has been passed down through their textiles.
We return from the mountains to enjoy our last day in the city. We will have a free afternoon to explore the city at our own pace for shopping or visiting the Oaxacan galleries and museums. In the evening we'll close our trip with a farewell dinner to toast our time in these magical lands.
After breakfast together, the morning is yours until we say goodbye to this beautiful city. We'll reflect on our journey together and capture the memories before we head to the airport.

MEET YOUR GUIDE
BIANCA BODERO
Consider yourself invited to our extremely special trip to Oaxaca – meeting indigenous communities, learning heritage crafts and experiencing the beautiful landscapes Oaxaca has to offer.
I was born in Brazil but spent my childhood growing up on the beautiful island of Mallorca. Two very different cultures and ways of life. This peaked my interest to discover and explore the rest of the world.
After spending time in Asia, I was naturally drawn back to South America where I spent time in Colombia and Peru. I felt a special bond with both countries, until I landed in Mexico, specifically Oaxaca, and knew this was where I wanted to make my home.
I had a vision of bringing regenerative travel and women together, so I founded Once Journeys where I spend my time working and designing unique and inspiring holidays.
